  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 jar (24 oz / 680 g) marinara or spaghetti sauce

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the cheese mixture:

  • 1 cup ricotta cheese or cottage cheese (optional, for extra creaminess)

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 large egg (optional, if using ricotta)

   For topping:

  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.

  2. Cook the spaghetti in salted boiling water until just al dente. Drain and set aside.

  3. In a large skillet, cook ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until meat is browned and onion is soft. Drain excess fat.
