Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 2 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)

For Coating:

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano

For Frying:

  • Vegetable oil (for deep frying)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Filling

  1. In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, cream cheese, mozzarella, and cheddar cheese. Mix well until smooth.
  2. Add the melted butter, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, paprika, and parsley (if using). Stir until all the ingredients are well incorporated.
  3. Take about a tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a small ball. Repeat until all the mixture is used. Place the balls on a tray lined with parchment paper.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for 10–15 minutes to help the balls firm up.

Step 2: Coat the Bombs

  1. Prepare three separate bowls: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for breadcrumbs mixed with salt, black pepper, paprika, and oregano.
  2. Roll each chilled ball in the flour, ensuring it is lightly coated.
  3. Dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing the excess to drip off.
  4. Roll it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  5. For an extra crispy texture, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating one more time.

Step 3: Fry to Perfection

  1. In a deep pan or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Carefully drop a few coated balls into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
  3. Fry for about 2–3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the fried bombs to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  5. Repeat the process until all the bombs are fried.

Serving and Presentation

  • Serve the Creamy Fried Bombs hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as garlic aioli, spicy mayo, or marinara sauce.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley or grated parmesan for an extra touch of flavor.
  • Pair them with a crisp salad or enjoy them on their own as a delicious snack.

Additional Tips

  • Make Ahead: You can prepare and coat the bombs in advance, then freeze them for later frying.
  • Baking Option: If you prefer a lighter version, bake them at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Air Frying: Place in an air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes for a crispy yet healthier alternative.
