  • Servings: 4–6

Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

For the Pasta and Sauce:

  • 400 grams pasta (e.g., penne or rigatoni)
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Meatballs

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, pepper, and oregano.
  2. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated. Roll the mixture into small, evenly sized meatballs (about 1 inch in diameter).
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook for 6–8 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides. They don’t need to be fully cooked as they’ll finish in the oven.

Step 2: Cook the Pasta

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente, following the package instructions (usually 8–10 minutes).
  2. Drain the pasta and set aside.

Step 3: Make the Sauce

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine marinara sauce and heavy cream. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is warmed through and slightly thickened.
  2. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if necessary.

Step 4: Assemble the Bake

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large baking dish, spread a thin layer of the creamy marinara sauce on the bottom.
  3. Add the cooked pasta, followed by the meatballs, and pour the remaining sauce evenly over the top. Toss gently to coat.
  4. Sprinkle grated mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly over the dish.

Step 5: Bake

  1. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.

Step 6: Serve

  1. Remove the pasta bake from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  2. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving. Serve hot and enjoy!
