Preparation Time:

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Cook Time: 10 minutes
  • Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

For the Filling:

  • 1 pound of thinly sliced beef (ribeye or sirloin works well)
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup of shredded provolone cheese or Cheez Whiz (for a classic taste)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

For the Egg Rolls:

  • 10 egg roll wrappers
  • Canola or vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Filling:
    • Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onion and green pepper, sautéing until softened (about 3-4 minutes).
    • Add the thinly sliced beef to the skillet and cook until browned and fully cooked, seasoning with salt, pepper, and garlic powder if desired.
    • Once cooked, remove from heat and mix in the shredded provolone cheese or Cheez Whiz. Let the cheese melt, combining well with the beef and veggies. Set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Assemble the Egg Rolls:
    • Place one egg roll wrapper on a clean surface, with a corner pointing towards you. Add about 2 tablespoons of the cheesesteak filling in the center.
    • Fold the bottom corner up over the filling, then fold in the sides. Roll up tightly and seal the top corner with a bit of water. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  3. Fry the Egg Rolls:
    • In a deep skillet or pot, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add a few egg rolls at a time, frying until golden brown and crispy (about 2-3 minutes per side).
    • Remove and drain on paper towels.

Serve your Cheesy Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls hot with your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy the crispy exterior and warm, cheesy filling that will leave your guests craving more!
