  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

INSTRUCTIONS 

1. Prepare the Base:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Mix well until the mixture resembles wet sand.
  3. Press the mixture firmly into the prepared pan, ensuring an even layer. Use the back of a spoon or a flat glass for a smooth surface.
  4. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly golden. Set aside to cool while preparing the caramel.

2. Make the Caramel Layer:

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream. Stir until the butter melts and the mixture begins to bubble.
  2. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until the caramel thickens slightly.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let it cool slightly before pouring over the pretzel base.
  4. Spread the caramel evenly over the baked pretzel crust. Let it set for about 10-15 minutes.

3. Add the Chocolate Topping:
