Sweet and Easy Amish Cinnamon Bread

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar, divided
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two loaf pans.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, 2 cups of sugar, and eggs until smooth.
  3. Add the buttermilk, flour, and baking soda to the mixture, stirring until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the remaining 1 cup of sugar with the cinnamon.
  5. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pans, then sprinkle 3/4 of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the top.
  6. Add the remaining batter and sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
  7. Use a knife to swirl the cinnamon-sugar into the batter for a marbled effect.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
