Cabbage and Minced Meat Recipe

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 1 small cabbage, cut into small pieces
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can (15 oz) chopped tomatoes
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon powdered broth seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
    • Wash and chop the cabbage into small pieces.
    • Chop the onions and finely mince the garlic if not already done.
  2. Sauté the Aromatics:
    • In a large skillet or pot, heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil over medium heat.
    • Add the chopped onions and sauté until they become translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
    • Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Cook the Ground Beef:
    • Add the ground beef to the skillet with the onions and garlic.
    • Cook until the meat is browned, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
    • Drain any excess fat if necessary.
  4. Season the Meat:
    • Stir in the powdered broth seasoning, cumin, cayenne pepper, and smoked paprika.
    • Mix well to ensure the spices are evenly distributed.
  5. Add Tomatoes and Cabbage:
    • Pour in the can of chopped tomatoes, including the juice.
    • Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet.
    • Stir everything together until well combined.
  6. Simmer:
    • Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
    • Cover the skillet with a lid.
    • Let it cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  7. Adjust Seasoning:
    • Taste the dish and add salt according to your preference.
    • If you prefer more heat or additional flavor, adjust the spices as desired.
  8. Serve:
    • Once cooked, remove from heat.
    • Serve hot, optionally garnished with fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Enjoy this dish over steamed rice, mashed potatoes, or with a side of crusty bread.
  • For added richness, top with a dollop of sour cream or grated cheese.

Enjoy your meal!
