Cheesy Garlic Flatbread
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 cup warm water (about 110°F/45°C)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
For the Topping:
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until the dough comes together.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.
- Prepare the Topping:
- In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter and minced garlic.
- In another bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, parsley, and oregano.
- Assemble the Flatbread:
- Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 4 equal pieces.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll each piece into a thin rectangle or oval shape.
- Transfer the rolled dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet (or directly onto a pizza stone if using one).
- Brush each piece of dough generously with the garlic butter mixture.
- Sprinkle the cheese mixture evenly over the top of each flatbread.
- Bake the Flatbread:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
- Serve:
- Remove from the oven and allow the flatbreads to cool for a minute or two before slicing.
- Serve warm, garnished with additional fresh parsley if desired.
