Ingredients:
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef
- ½ pound Italian sausage (mild or spicy, depending on your preference)
- 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup fresh parsley, chopped
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup marinara sauce (for topping)
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional, for topping)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the Meat Mixture:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian sausage, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, Parmesan cheese, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
- Mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined. You can use your hands for the best mixing.
- Shape the Meatloaf:
- Place the meat mixture on a baking sheet or in a loaf pan. Shape it into a loaf form.
- Bake the Meatloaf:
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 50 minutes to 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Add Marinara and Cheese (Optional):
- In the last 10 minutes of baking, remove the meatloaf from the oven and spread the marinara sauce over the top.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the marinara sauce (if using).
- Return to the oven and bake until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve:
- Allow the meatloaf to rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
