Baked Cabbage Steaks Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 2-3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3-4 garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: a sprinkle of paprika, thyme, or parmesan cheese

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the Cabbage:
    • Remove any outer leaves from the cabbage that are wilted or damaged.
    • Cut the cabbage into 1-inch thick slices, trying to keep the core intact as much as possible to hold the steaks together.
  3. Season the Steaks:
    • Place the cabbage slices on the prepared baking sheet.
    • Brush each side of the cabbage steaks with olive oil.
    • Sprinkle the minced garlic evenly over the steaks.
    • Season with salt and pepper to taste. If using, add a sprinkle of paprika or thyme for extra flavor.
  4. Bake the Cabbage:
    • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven.
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping the cabbage steaks halfway through, until they are tender and the edges are browned and crispy.
  5. Serve:
    • Once baked, remove from the oven and, if desired, sprinkle with a bit of parmesan cheese before serving.
    • Enjoy your baked cabbage steaks as a side dish or a light main course!

Tips:

  • You can also drizzle a bit of balsamic vinegar or lemon juice over the steaks before serving for an extra burst of flavor.
  • If you prefer a bit more crispiness, you can broil the cabbage steaks for 2-3 minutes at the end of the baking time.

These cabbage steaks are a healthy and flavorful option that pairs well with a variety of main dishes. Enjoy!
